The transference of CLASlite to the user community is based on a knowledge sharing process accompanied by timely and effective technical assistance to support the understanding of the deforestation and degradation monitoring approach.
Training - Information about the CLASlite training program.
The capacity building program incorporates the most appropriate selection of institutions whose work contributes to tropical forest monitoring efforts. To determine which institutions those are, the capacity building program identifies institutions that manifest interest in the software and whose needs may be addressed by its use. At the same time, the program considers contextual elements at the country level that provide a framework for the environmental work being conducted nationally or locally, including socio-political situation, existing environmental institutional networks, conservation priorities & management challenges.
The interests shared by the CLASlite user community span a range of themes and activities from forest monitoring & base lining, biodiversity monitoring, and zoning to reduced deforestation and forest’s degradation schemes (i.e. REDD).
The capacity building program provides guided, scientifically-based technical support to promote collective, well-informed decision-making. Our hope is that this strategy will contribute to improved forest monitoring and management that will help preserve forest resources.
